[/img]somebody give me a sign
that everything's going as planned
When your boyfriend of not months, but years, is one of the hottest rock stars in the alternative music scene -- him and his band mate's faces plastered on the walls of pre-teens everywhere, getting mobbed in the most bizarre places, touring around the country and sometimes even globe to play shows to a new crowd (with the exception of the fans that globe trotted along with them for whatever reason, Lindsey wasn't sure) every day -- it was hard to have a "normal" relationship. Then again, Lindsey had never really wanted what her friends called a "real" relationship -- making plans to have a movie night every Wednesday, dragging their so called significant other to every stupid family event, going on random vacations whenever they felt like it. Sure, Lindsey wanted that, just like probably every other woman out there. But, she loved Travis -- baggage and all. She loved the band as if she was a member herself, and supported and promoted them almost as much as they probably did. As for the tour thing, Lindsey was pretty laid back with it. She hadn't been included every time they left the state, but that really wasn't what she wanted. Hell, she really hadn't even planned to come on this tour till last minute.
Even though they had been dating for years, Lindsey couldn't think of that many traditions that they had kept over the years. There had been the time that Lindsey tried to get them to go back to their elementary school and have a picnic on the playground every anniversary - but that plan had gone right through the window when one anniversary he'd be in Japan or she'd have a final to take in school that she couldn't get out of. There was the key thing with them, but that wasn't a tradition as much as it was a symbol to them, something that fans and friends had caught onto but no one really understood it, at least the importance or true significance of the lone symbol, serving as a tattoo on the side of her thin body as well as a charm hanging from matching necklaces that they both wore. There were the holidays, though those didn't really count seeing as that Lindsey could think of a few Christmases and Easters where she and Travis had been "fighting", therefore Lindsey refusing to come to wherever the gathering was, though they would most likely get back together only hours after the celebration had ended. In all honesty, there was only one thing that stuck out in Lindsey's mind as a tradition that they had kept, and for obvious reasons at that.
That morning, Lindsey had decided to take off the day from tour to get ready for the evening between her and Travis. She knew that if she told him early on to clear his schedule for the night - regardless of what interviews or meet and greets he might need to participate in, that he would instantly know what she was talking about. That was one of the benefits, but sometimes it was a downfall, of having dated someone for so long. You truly knew them backwards and forwards - though somehow Linds and Travis managed to have a few surprises for each other now and then, and most of the time they were more than welcomed on Lindsey's part. Although she would have much preferred a Hilton or a Ritz-Carlton for their one true alone night together, she settled for a room in The Red Lion Hotel. It couldn't be any worse than a Super 8 or a Red Roof Inn, right? It had a kitchenette too, so she could cook him dinner, just like old times. As she grocery shopped that morning, still adorned in a pair of Victoria's Secret pajama pants and a black wife beater, she thought about all of the previous times they had done this...probably starting when they were fifteen or sixteen. It didn't matter if the tour was a week or three months long, but Lindsey would purchase some kind of fancy lingerie or a dirty costume and make him dinner and well...you can probably fill in the blanks from there.
It was pretty immature when you thought about it, not to mention maybe a little stupid - but it was easy for them to do, and Lindsey couldn't remember the last tour where they had skipped out on their little tradition. It had bothered her a lot more than it should have when they just hadn't had time before this tour between all of the preparations, but he should have known that she was going to find a way to make it up to him, one way or another. Grocery bags in tow, Lindsey made her way back to the hotel suite, dumping the bags in their correct places on the counter. Seeing as that she was such a late sleeper, she had basically slept through the whole morning and part of the afternoon - something that she had desperately needed. Tour really fucked with your sleeping patterns sometimes, though she wasn't going to bet he stupid band girlfriend that bitched about it. All of her experience on the road had at least earned her not getting sick every time she didn't get the full eight hours her tiny body needed as it had the first tour she accompanied Travis' band on. It was already nearing three o'clock as she unbagged the groceries, preparing to cook dinner for Travis. She peered at the clock on the hotel oven, seeing that the band was probably finishing their set about now...fuck, she didn't even know if she had told him that she wouldn't be at the show that night.
Once everything was in place on the stove and in the oven, she waltzed into the bedroom, digging through her bag to find her used and abused Blackberry. She loved the phone, and of course needed that phone, but it wasn't an uncommon thing for her to constantly lose it, break it, or lose the charger for it, making it completely useless. Her fingers expertly flew over the keys, composing a new text message to "Bear <3" and telling him only that she wasn't at the show and giving him the address and room number of the hotel, telling him that it was extremely important that he showed up. God, it would suck if she went to all of this trouble and they missed out on their little tradition yet again...she didn't think she'd have the energy (or money, to be honest, photographers didn't make that much money, obviously) to remake this evening. She dawdled for a few moments before stripping out of her pajamas, throwing them into the hotel room's closet and quickly showering, careful not to slip as she wrapped her petite body in a towel. Lindsey was thoroughly excited for tonight - it was hard to spend quality time with Travis on the road, and no matter what she said to him when she was angry or upset, she really did love him with all of her heart.
In years past, Lindsey had dressed up as a nurse, a school girl, a police officer, a French maid, etc. etc. for Travis. She really hadn't had the money to go into Victoria's Secret or a nice lingerie store in the mall to get some nice lace things for him, so she settled for sexing up her old Halloween costumes that she found on clearance at Party City. Of course, Travis didn't know that part - if he wanted to think that Lindsey had honestly sat online and peered through an adult web store and searched for these costumes, then let him. She wasn't going to burst his bubble. But finally, this year, she had found a little extra money and had purchased her first real, fancy set of lingerie -- it was white and lacy, a little more revealing than the other costumes but finally...she wasn't in character. She wouldn't have to greet him with a, "You're under arrest, bad boy." or a "Let Dr. Lindsey take a little peek, yeah?" Finally, it was just about them -- a night just dedicated to not working towards the future or trying to understand things about the past, just a night for Lindsey and Travis and their love and right now. Lindsey slipped the tiny outfit on, breathing deeply as she gazed at her reflection in the mirror, running her finger tips over the thinly stitched straps - it was hard to not imagine Travis slipping this outfit off of her delicately (or not, depending on what kind of mood he was in) in just a short amount of time.
She was interrupted from her day dreaming as she heard the hotel door open, a nervous smile instantly gracing her lips. Unless it was the incompetent cleaning staff again ignoring the "Please do not disturb" sign bolted onto the door, that definitely meant Travis was here. Quickly dusting a little bit of shimmering bronzer over her chest and arms, she slowly walked out into the general part of the suite, a small smile on her lips. There he was, her boyfriend, the love of her live, her own personal teddy bear standing in the middle of the hotel room, looking as handsome to her as he did the first time she had ever laid eyes on him. There was no rush, no reason for her to hurry, no intensified lust, at least none that overpowered their love as she reached up on the balls of her feet, wrapping her delicate, thin arms around his neck. "Surprise," She whispered sweetly, giving him a slow, passionate kiss on his lips.
