you took me off the ground a n d l i f t e d m e h i g h e r - - - - - - - - - - - - - -
After her WalMart excursion the one day, Sadie had found herself hanging out there way more often. Most of the time, yes, without Sebastian, mostly because it was kind of fun. She had gone with molly once or twice, and they actually talked with a few of the hobos that hung around in the parking lot. It was actually quite fun, she found out. Hey, not all hobos were the creepy types that looked like pedophiles like some people would think. Well, she only knew a few people who would think that; surprisingly, a lot of people that she knew and talked to were okay with hobos, which was a very good thing. Not all hobos were bad, people needed to realize. Wow, she shook her head as she walked out of WalMart. No worries, today she actually had a purpose for going to WalMart. Sort of? Whenever she stayed up late at night she would watch DVDs and usually converse with other people on her laptop when she was lying in her miniature sized bunk, but of course, she’d run out of movies to watch. And instead of doing the smart thing and just using online sites to watch them, she instead decided to be a good person and go buy the DVDs herself. Well, DVD. She didn’t have too much money to even be able to buy enough food to stash away on the tour bus for a week, let alone more than one DVD. She’d spent about an hour looking through the stupid section, trying to see which one she wanted to buy. She’d asked Sebastian, Molly, Hayden, Garret, everyone she could thin k of, what movie she should get. Damn, she’d gotten so many different opinions that she didn’t have the time to name them all at the moment. In the end, she’d gotten Up, because that looked like a cute movie, and waited about fifteen minutes in a long line waiting to buy the actual thing. How was it people wanted to wait until night time to go do their needed shopping? She didn’t get why people had to. If people came in during the night the most, wouldn’t people thin k to come earlier? That was Sadie’s logic.. though she couldn’t really say anything against those people since she was one of the ones that preferred coming in at night to do her shopping.
Finally, after she’d managed to get to the front of the line and manage to take not even two minutes to buy her DVD, she thanked the cashier and walked outside. It was actually really nice for a July evening. The day hadn’t looked too bright, so for a majority of the day she’d thought it would either rain, or it just wouldn’t be a great day. Well, she’d been proven wrong. The day had turned out pretty nice; in fact, she’d almost avoided spending the whole day in her bus. Besides the morning, where she’d been having a rare bad morning and tried to stay in bed for two hours more than she should have, she’d spent a majority of her time hanging out with whoever was around. She hung out with Molly for a bit before just going around and finding something to do. She was pretty lame when it came to finding stuff to do, honestly. Her mind just didn’t manage to think of ideas to do when she forced herself to think of them. Eventually, she’d managed to give up and just sat around just outside of her bus, messing around with one of her old Polaroid cameras. She loved those cameras too much. They were just better than digital cameras, she thought. The pictures just turned out better, in her mind. She’d taken a bunch of random pictures, though, so it wasn’t as though she did anything too awfully meaningful with her camera. She was just sort of lame like that. That had basically the way she’d spent her day. It made her realize one thing; she needed more of a life than she already had, which was sort of funny, considering her life at the moment was spending it on tour with some of her closest friends.
Setting herself down on the bench outside of WalMart that she was finding herself very familiar with, she pulled out her phone, trying to decide what to do. In the end, she decided to update/check her twitter. She hadn’t been on for a good few days. She got on, deciding that she would check out other peoples’ statuses before updating her own. She was enjoying reading some of them when she saw that Jesse had updated his. Reading through his updates, she frowned a little; they didn’t sound Jesse-ish at all. Sending him a message through twitter, she crossed her legs, running a hand over her skinny jeans as she waited to see if he was still on twitter. She hoped; she didn’t like seeing Jesse upset. If anyone that she cared about was upset, Sadie couldn’t help but worry. Sadie was a worrier for her friends. A lot of the time she ended up thinking too much about them and could come off as annoying, because she was stubborn like that and didn’t want to see anyone upset. Earning a reply from Jesse a while later, she frowned; she didn’t like depressed Jesse. She never really did. Jesse and she often had similar personalities quite often. She figured that was how they managed to hit it off so well when they first came together and met. They were pretty close now, close enough that she worried about him. Pushing herself off the bench, she quickly sent him a message saying that she was going to find him. Now, she just hoped she could, since he replied back saying even he didn’t know where he was. Smiling slightly, she shook her head as she walked out of the WalMart parking lot and starting down the street.
Now she just had to think of where he could actually be. The only thing she knew was that he was out on some sidewalk and he didn’t know where he was either. Crossing her arms, she figured that walking around Vegas to find him would work out perfectly. She knew her way around pretty well; it shouldn’t be that hard. Though there those undesirable people that wandered the streets at night. Oh dang, now it felt weird to wander around at night. She frowned at the thoughts of what sort of people could be wandering the streets at this time of night, and all she got were bad people she didn’t think she’d run into. “I better find him soon.” she said in a thoughtful tone, shoving one of her hands in her pockets, the other holding into her small bag containing her damn DVD. Maybe she should’ve stopped back at the buses first… she shrugged. Oh well. It didn’t really matter right now at all. Right now, all that mattered was managing to wander through Vegas without running into any weirdoes and finding which sidewalk Jesse had made himself sit down at. More than likely he was at some sidewalk that was somewhere Sadie would expect, but he just didn’t look around? Who knows. She shook those thoughts out of her head. She should’ve bought her iPod. When she didn’t have music, her mind thought the weirdest of things like this. Well, she was close to the tour grounds, which was pretty close to the buses... she could sneak onto her bus really quick? But she didn't want to in case she missed out on running into Jesse. But thankfully, the next minute, she glanced up quickly, and she saw a familiar figure on the dang sidewalk right on the grounds.
Smiling, she walked over quickly, trying to be quiet about it. She doubted it worked out, but hey, at least she tried. Sitting herself down next to him on the sidewalk, she put her bag on the other side of her, looking over at him. “you know, I don’t wander around Vegas at night for just anyone.” She smiled at him, though, despite how she probably sounded. Brushing some of her hair out of her eyes, she pulled her knees up to her chest, wrapping her arms around them as she laid her head down on her knees. She still had her head turned up to look at the side of Jesse’s face though. “So what’s going on? You didn’t sound like my happy Jesse on Twitter.” She pouted at him slightly, back into her worried state over him.

TALK TO ME, I'M TORNi . c o u l d . g e t . l o s t . i n . a . v o i c e . l i k e . y o u r s
_____________________________________ Normally, Jesse Murray didn't mind everyone around him that much. He was usually okay, usually the one who was able to tolerate the intolerable just because of his mellowed-out nature. Serious Jesse could handle anything in the world. Except when it came to his ex-girlfriend, and sadly even some of his band mates as of recently. Maybe that was really what was bugging him the most, that the people that he considered his best or closest friends were giving him a really hard time when he really didn't need that. Sure, most of the time when they'd call him Jessica because they knew he hated it, he was able to brush it off and think up a wittier comeback other than "shut up" or an angry face, but recently nothing was really coming to him and he was left to stew over a nickname that had started out as a joke and he now hated. Not to mention all those comments made about picking up the phone and talking to Kristin, his ex. Once again, normally he could deal with those, but it was harder now, since the girl was still obsessive over him and the fact that they weren't together anymore -- for about two months now, with each day being a challenge to not pick up the phone and talk to her -- was definitely killing her. Or not, it was probably just the fact that she wanted to have a boyfriend again and it just so happened that she had Jesse in the palm of her hand. But that still didn't change the fact that Jesse wished that it was different, wished that the possibility of that weren't more true than the fact that she may have loved him as much as he managed to love her. Then again, it HAD been 2 months even if it was a struggle to avoid her as much as possible -- being on tour helped, but the effects of that just went back to nothing whenever TJ or Molly said something about Kristin, more specifically for him to go find her and give her a blowjob or something. Not that he would have done that anyway, but they didn't need to rub in his sexual idleness, even if they didn't realize they were doing so.
Throwing his head back against his pillow, he stared back up at the ceiling -- okay, it wasn't really a ceiling, it was the bottom of the bunk that was above him, Matthew's bunk. Where was he anyway? It was like he didn't really see the people he was basically living with enough, when in fact they all woke up next to each other, what with their bunks being above, below, or across from each other. Or maybe it was just him, he felt out of it anyway. Well, no one was up in the back part of the bus, they were all in the lounge or off and out somewhere else on the venue grounds, and least they were still doing their stint in Vegas for the next few days to open up the rest of the first leg of the tour so who knew where the rest of Forever Til February could be? His iPhone rested idly on his chest, rising along with his breathing, the screen dim for the first time in the last ten minutes. Kris had started to do this routine call thing, and she was stupid to think that Jesse wouldn't notice that it started at 10:27 and continued for ten minutes, every minute thereafter even if he picked up, didn't pick up, or picked up and just hung up. He was good at remembering things -- he had asked her out at that exact time. At least she remembered too, but while a few months ago it was sweet, now it was just hurtful and annoying. And it really killed him to turn her down every time; he wasn't that kind of guy, he couldn't stand to be really mean to someone, and especially not to someone that he had given just about two years of his time to, in addition to his heart. His face was illuminated again with the reawakening of his phone from its standby setting, and Jesse shook a little in shock from the vibration of his phone against him -- great, she was doing it again, and he let out a huge sigh as he pressed the end button, ignoring her call before he sat up and shoved his phone underneath his pillow.
Pulling his Macbook towards him again, he made sure that the charger was plugged into the wall before he opened it and logged into AIM. Of course TJ and Molly were in there, along with Jude and Denver and a bunch of other familiar people that he had seen earlier in the day at one point or another. Barely five minutes into watching and kind of participating in the conversation that was going on, of course, someone had to ask about his phone calls, and of course TJ had to go along with the blowjob joke again. It wasn't enough that he was taking the whole "Jessica" thing as he usually did -- oh god did he hate that name, he was a guy, for christ sakes. Yeah, everything was just making it worse. Logging off of the chat, instead he found himself on Twitter again, for the third time that day or something. The site was stupidly addicting, and Jesse found himself making stupid and kind of mean tweets one after the other, about his band and how they sucked. Changing it three times, from the band to the people to adding (only half-kidding, actually, because he was still annoyed but didn't want to make it too known even if it already was) that his friends were being jerks, he was about to change it to something less angst-ridden when he felt the mattress of the bunk vibrating, and of course, who else would it be? Well, it could really have been anyone at that point, but he knew who it would most likely be. And he was getting tired of it, it was enough already in one night and his mind really wasn't in the right place -- build up really sucked, especially when you were kind of prone to keeping it in as much as you could. Shutting his laptop, he pushed it aside carefully and then reached underneath his pillow to grab his phone before swinging his legs over the edge of his bunk and getting up, shutting the bunk curtains behind him as he stood up straight and towards his full height, stretching his arms a little.
Straightening his composure, he reached for one of his black jackets and pulled it on over his grey shirt -- sure, it was summer, but it did get cold at night, and while he could usually take it, he had just gotten over being sick and he wasn't about to risk that again. He stepped into his shoes at the foot of his bunk before walking down the narrow pathway of the bus and into the main lounge area. TJ and Molly were there, sitting on each other as they had been doing a lot lately, but he didn't bother to make eye contact with either of them before he walked straight to the front of their tour bus and got off, jumping the three steps that were there and landing all balanced against the pavement of the parking lot. Shutting the bus door, he checked his Twitter through the app he had installed on his phone; technology these days was awesome. Sadie had responded to his tweets, and all he could really say when she expressed her worry and asked if something was wrong was give her one of those slanted faces in reply. He needed to breathe right now, he didn't really want to talk about it, or maybe he did but he didn't know who to talk to. Maybe Tallon, if he could find him -- at least he understood what he was going through, it was getting really safe to say that Tal was becoming one of Jesse's closest friends on this tour, even if they had met not too long ago. His phone buzzed again wtih a Twitter update, and it told him that Sadie wanted to meet up with him. Jesse couldn't help but smile; she was so sweet, and she at least cared for his emotions more than a lot of other people did. They had a lot of things in common, too, and lately Jesse was definitely getting closer to her, too. It was things like that which made him happy; tour brought you close to other people, got you new friends that you would most definitely keep for a long time, people that you could share the music experience with and just connect. Either way, he smiled to himself in the dark as he found himself eagerly typing a reply to her, informing her where he would be -- at least now he didn't really need to think up a set place to go for this walk, he could just meander around the venue lot for a little while, circling the buses and checking out what people may or may not be doing with each other in their little groups. Hey, tour always had a night party or night hang out with every date that they played, tonight was definitely not different.
After stopping by a singing circle outside Pushing April's bus and picking up a drink (only because he was coaxed to by a very drunk Ethan Mitchell after singing along to some random NSYNC song), Jesse had almost finished the beer that he had taken and chose to excuse himself from the 'party,' since he was supposed to be meeting Sadie anyway. With a promise to come back, he was let go and he moved towards the opposite direction, towards the sidewalk as he raised the glass bottle of beer to his lips. Draining the rest of the contents, he threw the bottle away in a trash can nearby before sitting down on the edge of the concrete. His tour laminate and his keys smacked against the sidewalk as they hung from the back of his jeans while he moved to sit down, resting his arms against his knees as his eyes scanned the venue lot. Open space was a wonder to him, and it looked so damn empty right now in comparison to how it had been earlier. His phone buzzed again, the multiple spasms of vibration against his leg telling him that it wasn't a text message but a phone call, and Jesse let out a groan of frustration as he reached his hand into his pocket and took his phone out. Answering it, he brought it to his ear. "Look, stop calling me, Kris. I know you want to talk, but we just can't. I'm sorry." He waited one second too long and she was now saying she loved him still, and with a hung head he pressed the end button, letting his arm drop back to its position on his knee as he blankly stared ahead. Damn it, how come she was able to make him feel horrible like that? He resorted to shutting his phone off now -- he should've done that before, but hey, what if something important came up? You never knew, really. Hearing the 'power off' noise gave him the okay, and he shoved his phone into the pocket of his jacket before lifting his head up again to look at nothing, the black area and its dim light posts that scattered the lot. Barely a minute later he heard footsteps -- they were quiet, but he could still hear them against the loose gravel on the ground. Turning his head to the side, he was faced with Sadie standing near him, moving to sit down beside him, and he couldn't help but let out a small, quiet chuckle at her first words to him tonight.
"Does that make me really special?" he questioned, his hand rubbing the back of his stiffened neck. "And you know, I would've kept my promise for you too, about fighting off those hobos in case. So we're even." The shy smile on his face was the first legitimate one on his lips all day, aside from the grin that was permanently plastered on his face while he was playing on stage earlier, and he tilted his head to look at her curiously. "But you know, you shouldn't have been walking around Vegas alone, by yourself at any time, and most of all at night, to begin with. That's scary and dangerous," he said, frowning a little bit as he ran his hand through the back of his dark hair. Really, Las Vegas was not the place for that, a city of vice and drunks and other types of people that he was weary of; as a girl, something could've happened to her, and that thought didn't sit well with Jesse, the fact that she went out alone -- but at least she was there with him now. When asked about what was going on, he bit down on the inside of his bottom lip, making a slight face before he sighed. The usage of "my" before she noted him as being his usual happy self made his heart tingle in a good way. "Nothing. I mean, well. Nothing really important." She probably knew he was lying already, that was always the sign of a lie, if you said 'nothing really' as an answer to a 'what's wrong' type question. "Just some stupid drama, someone won't leave me alone and it's just getting on my nerves," he said truthfully, just admitting it already. They had talked about it before, and he was pretty sure she could take the hint that his bad mood was at least half caused by his ex-girlfriend. Sadie was understanding and similiar to him, the two of them were basically broken inside because of another person in their life that was once a significant other, and they were both narrowly avoiding the love and potential hurt that came from a person. And at least he could confide in her, as well as vice versa. But somehow, he didn't want to talk about this with her, even if he knew she could give him advice or something. He just wanted to talk to her, about something else, anything else, just wanted to enjoy her company. And it was all because a part of him felt a lot better now that she was there. There was just something about Sadie that definitely calmed him, and he totally appreciated her existence in his life. "But yeah...don't worry about me and what's wrong, it'll pass like it always does," he said, aiming to stray away from the other subject. "Where'd you come from anyway?" he asked, even though he was already eyeing the bag that clearly said Wal*Mart on it.

"Mhmm. If it was Hayden, I'd make him come find me." She grinned innocently, shrugging. Honestly, she wouldn't do that. ... too many times. There were those times where she would just to mess with him a little; it was just funny. She loved Hayden, she really did. It was just fun for her to tease him like he teased her. They had a very weird relationship, but hey, everyone had at least one weird relationship with a friend. She stared off at the area on the other side of the lot for a minute as she thought about this before she turned her head back to him, now paying attention once again to what he was saying. She smiled as she remembered the tweets they sent each other a few days earlier about hobos. "Oh, that's right. Well, no hobos have attacked me yet, so there’s no worry. They're actually quite friendly." She added thoughtfully. Well, the ones she met with Molly were. She wasn't too sure about the rest of the hobo population in Vegas. And she really didn't think she wanted to find that one out on her own. Running a hand through her hair ( it had been getting into her eyes a lot lately, and right now it was, frankly, annoying as hell ), she looked up as she heard him, and she shrugged. "I guess I was always a little rebel." She said jokingly, but she shook her head. "Though you're right, because it's freaky walking around here at night." she didn't think she needed to mention how earlier she'd been thinking how creepy it had been walking back from WalMart to find Jesse. That wouldn't really do anything good but make him agree even more to what he thought. And since he wasn't in a happy mood already, she didn't want to say anything to make his mood worse. She was here to make his mood better.
She knew something was wrong; just by what he was saying. She frowned slightly, lifting her head up from her knees. Opening her mouth to say something, she shut it again as she heard him talking, and she nodded slightly, kind of understanding what he was talking about. Or who, she should say. Ever since she'd met him, they'd talked about a ton of stuff, and one of the topics that had come up was his ex girlfriend. It definitely wasn't one that was particularly fun to talk about, but there was probably no doubt that that might have been when Jesse and she had started to get closer. They had bonded in that way of a past significant person who kind of totally killed the meaning of love. Well, not necessarily kill, but… she needed to stop thinking so much about this stuff. Shaking her head, she took a breath, trying to see if she could say anything. "Uhm.... huh... " Resting her elbow on her knee, she put her head in her hand, trying to word out what she wanted to say. She didn't want to screw it up and make things worse. “I guess…. You know, if you’re not ready to talk to her, then… I mean, if she doesn’t realize that you’re not ready to talk to her, then… then you know, maybe… you just need to tell her that. You know, when you’re able to. I mean… if you’re positively sure that you’re ready to move on….I’m kind of a failure on advice on .... I suck." She put blankly. resting her head against her knees again. she decided to shut up for a minute and stop trying to 'help'. She had the stupid habit of never being able to say the right thing when it was needed, for one reason or another. And right now, it felt like this was one of those times. So she was pretty thankful that he started talking. Picking her head up, she gave him a worried look for a quick second before smiling slightly. But she managed a full on grin, even laughing slightly at his question.
"Well, you see, my mom and dad got married about twenty something years ago, and one night... " She shrugged, giggling slightly. "Okay, seriously." She reached over, grabbing the small bag that she now really wished she'd put back on the bus before coming to find him. "Up. I'm a geek, I admit. But it looked cute, and I was in need of new movies, and I really didn't want to be stuck on the bus all day, so... I wandered off to WalMart. And I was stuck in a long line for like... twenty minutes." Waiting in lines was something she really didn't like, not because it was just pointless to, but she got quite bored just waiting in lines. She would've grabbed a magazine or something and looked through it while she waited, but it was just her luck that the line she picked didn't have any right at hand. "But, I was on my phone and I saw your tweets, and you had me worried." She admitted, shrugging. She looked up suddenly, pushing his shoulder slightly. "You had me thinking I'd have to wander around for an hour trying to find you. I blame you for having me half freaked to death about walking around Vegas with only a ten ounce DVD case and a plastic bag." She tried to sound mad, but she couldn't pull it off well enough; her lips pulled back into a smile before she let out a small laugh. She was trying to make him smile; she saw one when she first sat down, she was going to get a real smile going on his face.
"Oh, you're playing tomorrow, right?" She asked suddenly, remembering the schedule for who was performing when. Her thoughts sometimes went to the most random of things, but hey, it was slightly relevant to the current situation, right? Yeah, Sadie didn't think so either. "I don't know, I just thought of that, and... I don't know. I'll shut up, but I'm saying that I'm stopping by tomorrow. And I better see you smiling on stage, or I'll go up on stage and make you." She waved her finger his face as a warning, but her damn smile wouldn't let up. It was going to be stuck like t hat one day, and heaven forbid that happen, because that could probably hurt. A lot. At least that’s what she’d been told by the people who were kind enough to tell her that she needed to stop smiling all the time. It wasn’t really her fault; it was almost natural for her. If her mouth wasn’t turned up into a positive smile, it just didn’t feel right to her, and she’d have to make herself think of something to smile. Negativity was something she wasn’t too good at handling. The only time she’d ever thought horribly negative thoughts was when the last relationship she’d been in ended up blowing up in her face. Ever since, she’d held up that positive attitude that she had a lot lately. If lately was a two year stretch? She shrugged physically, looking back over at him. “Okay, so, other than the… not fun stuff, what’ve you been up to today? We couldn’t manage to hang out today.” She frowned at him, looking at him through her hair that was falling in her face. Frowning, she shook her hair out of her eyes before reaching up and tying her hair up into the messiest bun she probably ever managed with the hair tie that was around her wrist. “Please say something. I feel like an babbling idiot.” She sighed, going back to her original position, her head resting against her knees.
